Hiking Trails
Hiking trails in The Dells will encompass miles of future walking and biking trails, connecting with the City of Prescott’s 5.1-mile Peavine National Recreation Trail and Prescott Valley’s four-mile Iron King Trail, recognized by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. These two scenic trails, open to all non-motorized travel, were built over what were once 19th-century railroad beds. Watson and Willow Lakes are a pleasant trail-hike away, and our close proximity to both Antelope Hills Golf Course and Heritage Park Zoo is certain to please both golfers and animal lovers.
The Peavine Trail: This rails-to-trails path crosses Granite Dells on the east side of Watson Lake. Hikers, cyclists, and equestrians head down the nearly level, packed-gravel trail, which is 4.15 miles one way and connects with several other trails.
The Peavine Trail can be accessed from the west side of The Dells, allowing residents to experience one of Prescott’s greatest amenities.
The Iron King Trail: This trail runs nearly four miles long and radiates with a quintessential southwest flare. It passes through lovely grasslands, rustic sandstone rock formations and enchanting dessert while capitalizing on unique foliage and its historical background. The rural dirt path is very popular with mountain bikers, as well as hikers and equestrians.
The Iron King Trail can be accessed via the Peavine Trail, just south of The Dells.
